In Arabic there are two genders there is no (it) like in English, every thing is either masculine or feminine .
The feminine noun is usually recognised by the (taa marbota) at the end of the word such as:

* However there are exceptions not all feminine nouns has taa marbota at the end like :

The taa marbota is also added to a masculine noun (human or animal) to form its feminine such as:
معلم (teacher ) :معلمة
مهندس (engineer) : مهندسة
طبيب (doctor) : طبيبة
or adjectives:
طويل (tall) : طويلة
سمين (fat) : سمينة
مجنون (crazy ) : مجنونة
*But not all masculine nouns can take a taa in the end of it to form a feminine noun there are some exceptions :
ولد (boy) : بنت (girl)
رجل (man) : امرأة( woman )
